Skype wins...

Shortly after establishing the TeamSpeak server, 'Chowfun' suggested that we might all just as well use Skype. After trying it, we found much better sound quality with an almost undetectable latency.

Until further notice, Skype will serve as the preferred method of voice communication for FightClub.

FightClub TeamSpeak
(outdated, please see 'Skype wins' post)

FightClub guild now has a free 24-hour TeamSpeak channel. A headset is good, but speakers and a mic work just fine. Hear are the steps needed for connecting:

1. Download and install 'TeamSpeak 2 Client'.

2. Set up your preferences for Push To Talk or Voice Activation by going to Settings, Sound Input/Output Settings. The middle mouse button works well for Push To Talk.

3. Set connection preferences by going to Connection, Connect. Right click in the frame under 'Servers' and select Add Server, and fill in the fields as follows:

Label: FightClub

Server Address: 208.118.122.152:8767

Nickname: (Your character's name in the guild)

Select 'Anonymous'

(Leave Server Password blank.)

Default Channel: FightClub

(Leave Default Subchannel blank.)

Channel Password: (type in the same password we use for all our guild games... except type it twice... i.e 'passwordpassword')

Click Connect and these setting will be saved.

FightClub Ladder

Rank on the Ladder is determined by Ladder Matches played between guild members.

Rules:

1. Any member may challenge any higher-ranked member on the ladder, provided that they do not 'skip over' any other ranked member who is online at the time.

2. If the challenged member is online and available (not in game or game list) they must accept the challenge, or 'concede' the loss of their rank. Any member who is determined to be 'afk' for 5 minutes or more, shall be considered 'offline'.

3. The challenged guild member shall decide the terms of the match (i.e course, number of holes, seconds on clock). The room shall be locked with the guild password.

4. FightClub guild members are welcome to watch, but at no time are observers to make comments of any kind about the match. This includes short-cut macros such as 'Nice Shot'.

5. If the challenging guild member wins the match he will replace the challenged guild members position on the ladder, and the losing player shall fall one rank. If the challenging guild member loses the match there is no change to ladder rank.

6. The losing player will pay to the winner the bounty for the losing player's level. The amount of the bounty can be calculated using the formula: (Level x Level) x 500. (Values are rounded up to the nearest 1000) The quick reference drop-down list below can also be used.

7. A challenged player may 'concede' their position on the ladder without playing the ladder match. Rank positions will be adjusted, but no bounty will be paid.

8. In the event of a tie, an identical match will be played immediately with the exact same terms.
Fights will go on as long as they have to...

9. In the event of disconnection of both players (server failure, server maintenance), the game is a draw.

10. In the event of disconnection of one player, the player who 'dropped' shall have the number of strokes taken at that hole at the time of disconnection added to their score for that round. This means if you're score was -5 for the round, and you drop on your third stroke, you're adjusted score is -2. If that player's adjusted score is lower than the round score of their opponent's at the time of disconnection, the game is a draw. Otherwise, it is a loss.

11. Both parties are required to notify guild master 'index' with the result of the match.

12. If all guild members are ranked and the guild is full, any player who wishes to join FightClub will only gain acceptance by winning a match against a ranked member. As a result, the lowest ranking member will be removed from the guild.

This is FightClub.

Registration of FightClub guild on March 18, 2009

And so it begins...

My ideas for the guild, not yet set in stone...

Recruiting:

We will host a weekly qualifying tournament which awards 500k (amount subject to change) and grants a quick screening interview for acceptance into the guild. The interview will serve the purpose of screening undesirable applicants. Only players who are 'Amateur' Title or Higher, and not a member of any guild may apply.

Maintaining:

If our guild is full, 1 member will be removed each month by a process of an internal qualifying elimination tournament. The test will be 18 holes on Gladsheim, and the worst actual score (not adjusted) will result in that guild member being removed from the guild. ALL members of FightClub (including the Guild Master and Sub-Master) will be required to qualify and submit their score before the end of each month. No one is above the law. Failure to qualify and submit score will result in elimination. The test can be taken at any time during the month but it must be taken with at least one other guild member. The test can be taken and re-taken an unlimited number of times, so long as it is witnessed by at least one other guild member. In the event of a tie (for worst score) no one will be removed from the guild for that month. The eliminated guild member is free to re-apply at any time through the normal guild application process (and is once again eligible to win the prize money).

This process will continue indefinitely, and will serve the purpose of automatically removing the weakest, and bolstering the strongest that we have to offer. This will also have the effect of generating a tremendously ruthless reputation for the guild, and casting all members in a light of true elitism. Our members are not claiming to be the best... our members are the best.

This is how it works...

This is what it takes...

This is FightClub.
